Writing skills

Apparently my blog doesn't quite equal my education level. I am, afterall, only a few months from a PhD. But my blog rates only at the high school level. Hmm... Wonder what criteria go into that. Wonder what would happen if I tossed some random scientific names in there. Anyway, I suppose it is good my blog doesn't rate too highly. If it were too complex, who would want to read it, right?

Mmmm...pie...

You Are Apple Pie

You're the perfect combo of comforting and traditional.
You prefer things the way you've always known them.
You'll admit that you're old fashioned, and you don't see anything wrong with that.
Your tastes and preferences are classic. And classic never goes out of style.

Those who like you crave security.
People can rely on you to be true to yourself - and true to them.
You're loyal, trustworthy, and comfortable in your own skin.
And because of these qualities, you've definitely earned a lot of respect.

I've Been Tagged!

Actually, I have been tagged, and I've tagged myself. I was on the verge of tagging myself from Sage Femme's blog when Marketing Mommy tagged me with the same meme. Funny how things work like that. I enjoy both of their blogs, for very different reasons. How it all came together on the same day is very interesting.

Eight Things About Me

So here are the rules:
1) Post these rules before you give your facts.
2) List 8 random facts about yourself
3) At the end of your post, choose (tag) 6 people and list their names, linking to them
4) Leave a comment on their blog, letting them know they've been tagged.

And now, my 8 random facts:

1) I'm a huge numbers dork. I get all hot and bothered about math, money, and statistics. I even started my own retirement account at the ripe old age of 22. Yeah...I'm so cool (not).

2) I've hiked the entire Appalachian Trail...twice. Started in Georgia, walked to Maine. 1996 and 1999. Saw 2 bobcats, like 20 bears, 1 earthquake, some foxes, and I broke my toe. My trailname was (and continues to be) Firefly.

3) I used to drive buses for a living. You know, big honkin' city buses. It was probably one of the most amusing jobs I could ever have. While driving, I met some of the best friends I'll ever have (including Franny and Dave, parents to one toddler Mizz who is in love with my toddler Ava).

4) I know how to make a stove out of cat food cans. How can you get any cooler than that?

5) I'm thinking about midwifery training. It might be just as an assistant, and I don't think it would be for a living (at least I don't think right now).

6) I got roped into an Indian suit-making scam while traveling in Thailand. It was an accident...I didn't know what was happening. I bribed my way out of it. It cost me about 80 cents, but it probably paid for a week of groceries for the guy I paid off.

7) I like to bake. I bake semi-fancy cakes and stuff. I'll post some pictures soon. Invite me to your party and I'll bake a cake for it.

8) I have a secret fetish with home and garden renovating and decorating shows. I can't help myself. It just gives me so many good ideas (none of which I can afford money or time-wise). I like to daydream about how I would renovate our house if money and time were no object.

And now I tag:

Mom the Baby Nurse
What's Going On With Britten
This Blog Has No Point
Matilda's Journal -Ok, mum's too!
Home's Jewels
Breast and Belly

And I was about to tag Redspiral and Doulicia, but Navelgazing Midwife got them both!

Now, my computer is about to blow up. Time for bed.

One Hand

Typing with one hand really stinks. There will be some days my posts are short and to the point. It is probably because I'm typing with one hand, which is quite common for a mom of an infant. But I hate typing with one hand. Sometimes I'd rather not say anything if it has to be said with one hand. Today was a day like that - most of the day I had only one hand. Now I have two hands, but I'm tired, my kids are asleep, and I need to go to bed.

Tomorrow is my first day back at school in the literal sense. I'm actually going to school for 4 hours in the morning. Keith is staying home with both kids, which is a huge experiment in its own. I'm so darn excited about 4 straight hours all to myself though. It will probably be the 4 most productive hours of my life (or seem that way). It just boggles the mind what I could do in 4 hours with no children at my ankles. I'll update tomorrow on how the day went, both for me and for Keith.
