Turns out when that insurance agent said I was "involved" in an accident, she meant as a witness. Whew! I didn't think she could possibly be asking about that, because it was 6 weeks ago that the accident happened. But I guess the drivers in the accident didn't report it until this week, so I didn't get the call until then. I'm so relieved it wasn't something bad for me, like someone claiming I hit them. I offered my name and number to both drivers of this accident I witnessed because of an accident I was in a year ago. A very VERY very old man hit my car, and while I was busy calling the police, he was out in the street getting witnesses. Long story short, I had no witnesses and he had several who spouted a modified version of the truth...and I was found at fault (even though he HIT me while I was completely stopped...and he drove away without realizing he hit me...and then his story included the completely wrong part of his van too). So I learned the lesson that witnesses are more important than just about anything else. Next time I won't move the cars out of traffic either, until I have taken pictures at least.
Anyway, I was glad to do my duty and help these drivers settle their accident.
